Third Age Fitness employs a variety of assessment methods to ensure you acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to become an effective fitness instructor for older adults. Here's an overview of our assessment processes -

Online Assessments

The majority of our courses are assessed through 100% online methods -

  • Multiple choice quizzes - primary form of assessment for most courses
  • Attempts - three attempts allowed to pass each quiz
  • Passing Grade - typically 80%, but may vary depending on the course
  • Additional Support - available if you don't pass after three attempts
  • No Extra Fees - no additional charges for extra attempts or support

Assessment guide

Most courses include a comprehensive assessment guide -

  • Purpose - contains full set of questions, including visual elements or diagrams
  • Access - must be reviewed before attempting the online quiz
  • Content - includes multiple-choice questions and image-based questions
  • Preparation - students should thoroughly study the guide to familiarise themselves with question formats before assessing the quiz.

Online quiz process

After reviewing the assessment guide:

  1. Submit answers into the online quiz platform. The online quiz is the official submission method
  2. Quiz results are typically available immediately upon completion

This two-step process ensures students have full access to all question materials while maintaining assessment integrity and efficiency.

Practical assessments

For certain courses, such as the Older Adult Fitness Level 1 workshop, a practical assessment is required:

  • Format - completed either face-to-face or via Zoom video call
  • Content - demonstration of specific exercises and teaching techniques
  • Feedback - instructors provide real-time feedback to help improve

Our Assessment Philosophy

At Third Age Fitness, we believe in -

  • Continuous learning - assessments reinforce learning, not just testing
